On August 17, the 4th “Sprout: Russia and China - Mutually Beneficial Cooperation” International Forum was officially inaugurated in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. As a regular, comprehensive, and high-level platform for bilateral exchanges between Russia and China, this forum focused on regional connectivity, mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation, industrial collaboration, and cultural exchange. Government and business representatives, industry experts, corporate leaders, and media representatives from both countries gathered to explore new opportunities for cooperation and chart a new blueprint for shared development.

As China-Russia economic and trade cooperation enters a deeper stage, cross-border collaboration in industrial infrastructure sectors such as bulk material storage and handling has become a key focus of industry attention. During the forum, discussions were particularly active around topics including the global expansion of high-end equipment and industrial value-chain complementarity. At the thematic session “Cluster Cooperation as a Driving Force for Technological Sovereignty: New Perspectives on Russia-China Industrial and Innovation Partnerships,” Wen Peng, Chairman of Henan SRON Silo Engineering Co., Ltd. (SRON), was invited to deliver a speech as a representative of participating Chinese enterprises. Drawing on SRON’s global engineering experience across more than 40 countries and regions and involving over 1,000 smart silos, Wen Peng shared insights into the coordinated development of the China-Russia industrial value chains. He provided an in-depth analysis of how core technologies, including full-chain EPC contracting, digital twins, and low-carbon storage technologies, can be precisely tailored to the needs of Russia’s industrial upgrading, offering practical insights and a valuable reference for the global expansion of Chinese industrial technologies.
At the session “Welcome Chinese Entrepreneurs to Tatarstan,” Wen Peng delivered a keynote speech to Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Russian government and business representatives. He noted that Henan and Tatarstan have significant complementary strengths in the agricultural and industrial sectors, and highlighted advanced technology solutions tailored to cold-climate regions, including insulated grain storage and intelligent inspection systems. He also revealed that SRON has established a localized operating entity in Moscow, aiming to leverage localized operations to continuously promote coordinated development in food security and cross-border logistics infrastructure between the two regions.
The exhibition area held alongside the forum was equally vibrant. As an important part of the industry ecosystem, SRON showcased at Booth B13 its latest technological achievements and engineering capabilities in areas including grain storage and industrial bulk material storage and handling. The booth attracted numerous Russian government and business representatives as well as industry professionals, highlighting the strong demand for and technological appeal of Chinese bulk material storage and handling equipment in international markets.

The signals emerging from this forum indicate that China-Russia industrial cooperation is evolving from traditional trade exchanges toward deeper technological collaboration and industrial value-chain integration. In key infrastructure sectors such as bulk material storage and handling, Chinese enterprises are leveraging their mature engineering expertise and customized technology solutions to become deeply involved in Russia’s industrial upgrading process. Looking ahead, as more localized operating mechanisms are established and cross-border infrastructure projects are implemented, cooperation between China and Russia in areas such as food security and industrial equipment is expected to enjoy broader development prospects, injecting new momentum into the continued deepening and substantive advancement of bilateral economic and trade relations.
